Gemaro Bakery is dedicated to bringing delicious gluten-free foods to the Scarborough community. Robert Mayer and his wife wake up at 5 a.m. to begin preparing their original recipes for the day.
Gemaro Bakery’s foods are completely free of gluten, dairy, soy, tree nuts and peanuts, eggs, preservatives and artificial colours. So what’s left?
“All of our recipes are different. We spend a lot of time making different blends that create great products.”
Different types of flour have different absorption rates, so simply exchanging one for another doesn’t work. Gemaro Bakery recognizes this and experiments with different blends to make the best product.
The foods are all created and baked in the allergen-free kitchen and then sold online and through a number of retailers in Scarborough and Toronto. These retailers include: McEwan, Victoria Whole Foods, The Big Carrot, Alfa Farm Fresh, The Essence of Life and The Simple Craft Company. Gemaro Bakery are also involved with various markets throughout the city including the University of Toronto Scarborough Farmers’ Market.
The Mayer family has some issues with allergies so they know how difficult it can be to find food that is not only safe, but also tastes good.
